Summer Games II

Summer Games II is a sports computer game that was developed in 1985 by the game company Epyx for the Commodore 64 (published in Europe by the US Gold company ). It is the sequel to Summer Games from 1984 and was also developed by Randy Glover at Epyx.

Game mechanics

The game is designed for up to eight players who can assume different nationalities. Everyone can try to get first place in different sports.

There are eight different sports to choose from:

After selecting a nation, players have the option of either competing in all disciplines one after the other, competing in selected disciplines only, or practicing a single discipline. The high scores are stored separately in all disciplines, which motivates the player to continuously train his skills in the various disciplines in order to surpass the high score.

Ports

The game was released for the following systems: Amiga , Amstrad CPC , Apple II , Apple IIGS , Atari ST , Commodore 64 , MSX , NES , PC and ZX Spectrum . In 2008 it was released again on the Nintendo Virtual Console .

The original C64 version of Summer Games II was developed in 1985 by Scott Nelson, Jon Leupp, Chuck Sommerville, Kevin Norman, Michael Kosaka and Larry Clague. In the same year there was an Apple 2 version by John Stouffer, Jeff Webb, Doug Matson, Greg Broniak, Tim Grost, Matt Decker, Vera Petrusha, Ken Evans, Pat Findling, Dr. Keith Dreyer and Chris Oesterling. A year later, Summer Games II was ported to the IBM PC by Phil Suematsu, Jeff Grigg, Don Hill and Jimmy Huey. Einstein and Steve Hawkes ported it to the Sinclair Spectrum and Amstrad CPC. In 1992 the game was ported to the Atari ST and the Amiga by Adam Steele, Phillip Morris and Dave Lowe.
