Sunandha Kumariratana
Sunandha Kumariratana ( Thai : สุ นันทา กุมารี รัตน์ , Thai transcription system : Sunantha Kumarirat; pronunciation: [ sùʔnantʰaː kùʔmaːriːrát ] ; * November 10, 1860 in Bangkok , Thailand ; † May 31, 1880 at Bang Pa In ) was the eldest daughter of King Mongkut (Rama IV.) And his wife Piam. She was a half sister and at the same time the first of the four queens (main wives) of King Chulalongkorn (Rama V). Two of them were her younger sisters, Savang Vadhana and Saovabha Phongsri .
Sunandha Kumariratana drowned in the Bang Pa-in River with her one-year-old daughter กรรณา ภร ณ์ เพชรรัตน์ Kannaphon Phetcharat at the age of 19 when the royal boat capsized on the way to the Summer Palace in Bang Pa-In . Despite the presence of many courtiers , no one dared to save them, although King Chulalongkorn had officially repealed the law prohibiting the death penalty from touching members of the royal family as early as 1873. Chulalongkorn later had a marble memorial built for his late wife and daughter at the palace in Bang Pa-In.
The Rajabhat University Suan Sunandha in the district of Dusit from Bangkok named after Sunandha Kumariratana. In addition, a courtier who, like the princess, was born in a year of the pig, erected the "pig memorial" in her honor at the old city moat in Bangkok (Khlong Khu Mueang Doem, coll. คลอง หลอด Khlong Lot) between Wat Ratchapradit and Wat Ratchabophit .
