The Silimpopon ( Mal. Sungai Silimpopon ) or Silimpopon River is a river in the Malaysian state of Sabah on Borneo . It rises on the slopes of Gunung Tamplit in the border area with Indonesia in the southeast of Sabah and runs from there to the confluence with Cowie Bay , which in turn opens up to the Celebes Sea.

In February 1903, a mighty seam was found on the Silimpopon River , which was known as the Queen Seam and was considered to be exploitable. From 1905 to 1932 hard coal was mined in the Silimpopon colliery built on the river .
