Suntech Power ( Chinese 尚德 电力 控股 有限公司 , Pinyin Shàngdé dìanlì kònggǔ yǒuxiàn gōngsī ) is the world's largest producer of photovoltaic modules made of crystalline silicon. The company was founded in 2001 by Shi Zhengrong and is based in Wuxi , China. In 2009 it achieved a production capacity of 1 GW module output per year. In March 2013, the company ran into serious financial difficulties and filed for bankruptcy.
In 2014, Wuxi Suntech was taken over by the Chinese Shunfeng International Clean Energy (SFCE).
