Great furry animals
The Super Furry Animals (also SFA or the Furries ) are a Welsh rock band that is difficult to classify musically. It uniquely combines styles as diverse as Britpop, Glam Rock, West Coast Rock, Punk, Progressive Rock, Techno, Dub, Drum and Bass, Country, Psychedelia, P-Funk, Soul and Heavy Metal. The band had several hits in the top 20 of the UK album and singles charts. The band also achieved a certain fame with the limited single The Man Don't Give a Fuck , which contained the word Fuck over fifty times .
Band history
The band was formed in Cardiff in 1994 by members Dafydd Ieuan , Gruff Rhys , Guto Pryce , Huw Bunford and Cian Ciaran . The first three had already toured Wales in an electro project.
After the first releases, she discovered Alan McGee, the head of Creation Records , while performing in London . It was the second gig outside of Wales that the band had ever played. The band was always open to new technologies. She was one of the first ever to broadcast a concert on the Internet and the first to release an album in audio and DVD format simultaneously. In addition, the title Slow Life is used in the soundtrack of Michael Winterbottom's film 9 Songs .
From 2004 singer and songwriter Gruff Rhys concentrated more on his own solo career. The lyrics of his first solo album Yr Atal Genhedlaeth (2004) were still written in Welsh Gaelic throughout , which changed with Candylion (2006), Hotel Shampoo (2011) and American Interior (2014). Another project without the Super Furry Animals was, among other things, the neon neon electric duo with the American Boom Bip . Both released a concept album on John DeLorean in 2008 called Stainless Style . The concept album Praxis Makes Perfect about the life of the Italian publisher Giangiacomo Feltrinelli followed in 2013 .
Because of these projects and other activities of the other members, the band took a break from 2010 to 2015. Then they returned with a series of joint appearances. In addition to the re-release of some older albums, the best-of album Zoom! The Best of 1995-2016 and a band biography. At the end of 2016 they went on tour again in the UK.
