The Surfits are an Elmshorn ska-punk band founded in 1998 . The 7-piece band consists of a singer and guitarist, a guitarist, a bassist, three wind instruments and a drummer. The group works with English texts and describes their style of music as "Holstein-Skapunkdeluxe".

history

In September 1998 the band was founded by members of various other bands, Matthias Schlachta and Dirk Planeth are still active founding members. The place of foundation is the Elmshorn dream room. They support Dr. Ring thing .

After various appearances in German-speaking countries and a long search for suitable wood and brass players, the Hardrat brothers (saxophone) and Tobias Wursthorn (trumpet) joined the band in 2000 - together they formed the Surfits wind section from now on. In the line-up with Volker Hatje on drums, the band recorded the (out of print) CD Sixteen Balls Game in 2003 and toured Germany and Poland with it.

In 2004 and 2005 Volker Hatje left the band and Andre Respa took his place as drummer. Annika Wiedekamm strengthened the brass section in 2004; In 2005 Jan Greeven took over the trumpet part. With this line-up, the Surfits recorded the album Pick It Up , which has been available since July 15, 2006.

Surfits are featured on the soundtrack of the Catstone DVD Driftzone Vol.1 .

January 2007 Björn and Jan Hardrat left the band.
