Susan Lordi marker

Susan Lordi Marker (born 1954 in Beaver Falls , Pennsylvania ) is an American artist. Susan Lordi Marker is best known for her sculptures which are marketed worldwide under the name "Willow Tree".

Life

The Italian-born Susan Lordi Marker grew up in St. Louis . Her father was an electrician and played the clarinet in an orchestra in Alton, her mother played theater and was an English and Spanish teacher. She has three other siblings. In 1972 she graduated from Parkway Central High School in Chesterfield, Missouri .

In 1974 Susan Lordi Marker received a scholarship (InterFuture Study Travel Scholarship Award) from the University of Missouri in Columbia and in 1976 received her Bachelor of Science with cum laude for her studies at the College of Human Environmental Sciences in Environmental Design . She then moved to Kansas City and started working as a restaurant interior designer. From 1990 to 1993 she received a Graduate Merit and Research Scholarship Award from the University of Kansas at Lawrence and received a Master of Fine Arts in 1993 .

She mainly works with textile fibers. Susan Lordi Marker received several awards in competitions for her work. She regularly exhibits her works at relevant exhibitions and work shows. She teaches at Johnson County Community College and the Kansas City Art Institute .

In 2000, Susan Lordi Marker began producing clay figurines she had created under the brand name “Willow Tree”. The figures are made of resin and are based on originals made by her.

She has been married to Dennis C. Marker since 1978. The two have two children.
