Susan Stuart (Goodrich) Frackelton (* 1848 in Milwaukee ; † 1932 there ) was an American painter and ceramic artist .

Life

Susan Stuart Frackelton learned landscape painting in Milwaukee from Henry Vianden and became involved in genre painting . In the late 1870s she turned more to ceramic art, predominantly Chinese decorative art. Her work has been exhibited in the United States and Europe and has received multiple awards. She won nine prizes at the Chicago World's Fair in 1893. Among other things, the Italian Queen congratulated her in writing on her outstanding Chinese works of art. She ran a local association for the training of professional artists that later became the Milwaukee Art Institute , which in turn became the Milwaukee Art Museum . She was also President of the Wisconsin School of Design .

Her body is located in the Forest Home Cemetery , Milwaukee, Section 10, Block 48, Lot 4.
