Susan Velder (* 1939) is a Canadian sculptor and painter.

Susan Velder graduated from the Alberta College of Art in Calgary , Alberta in 1977. She then trained as an art teacher at the University of Calgary and left Alberta in 1986 to move to Saskatchewan .

Velder's work has been shown in solo and group exhibitions and is part of numerous public and private collections. She has created numerous public sculptures from materials such as bronze, concrete and steel. Well-known works are for example “Emergence” from 1977, on the campus of the Alberta College of Art and Design, a life-size bronze statue by the German-born artist Berthold Imhoff (1998) in St. Walburg , Saskatchewan, and a bronze bust of the former Prime Minister of Saskatchewan Tommy Douglas for the Saskatchewan Parliament Building and a statue of Queen Elizabeth II on her favorite Burmese horse , located in front of the Saskatchewan Parliament Building and inaugurated by the Queen herself in 2005.

Susan Velder lives and works in St. Walburg, Saskatchewan.
