Susan Ellis Wild (born June 7, 1957 in Wiesbaden , Germany ) is an American politician ( Democratic Party ). She has been a member of the State of Pennsylvania in the United States House of Representatives since November 27, 2018 .

Life

Susan Wild is the daughter of Norman Leith and Susan Stimus Ellis. Her father served in the United States Air Force . Wild was born at Wiesbaden Air Base and spent her childhood and youth there, in France, in New Mexico, in California and finally in Washington, DC She studied at American University , where she received her bachelor's degree in 1978, and then at George Washington University . In 1982 she completed her studies as a Juris Doctor . Susan Wild works for the law firm Gross McGinley , where she became a partner in 1999.

In 2013, Susan Wild applied for the office of County Commissioner of Lehigh County without success . On January 7, 2015, she was promoted to Lehigh County Solicitor , becoming the first woman to hold that position. She resigned from office on December 31, 2017 after announcing her candidacy for the seat of Congress in Pennsylvania's seventh congressional electoral district. Wild won the Democratic Party's primary election and won the election on November 6, 2018 against Marty Nothstein . On November 27, 2018, she took over from Charlie Dent's office, which had been vacant since May 2018 . With the seventh congressional electoral district, Wild represents the Lehigh Valley region in Congress.

From 1981 to 2002 she was married to Russell Wild, with whom she has a son and a daughter. In 2003 Wild married her childhood friend Kerry Acker, with whom she was married until his death in May 2019. Susan Wild is Jewish and lives in South Whitehall Township near Allentown .
