Susanne Heeg

Susanne Heeg (* 1967 in Mömbris ) is a German geographer and professor at the Johann Wolfgang Goethe University in Frankfurt am Main.

Life

Susanne Heeg has held the chair for geographical urban research at the Johann Wolfgang Goethe University in Frankfurt am Main since 2006 . After graduating from the High School in Hanau in 1986, Susanne Heeg studied sociology with a focus on industrial sociology, urban and regional research from 1987 to 1992. From 1995 to 2000 she was a research assistant at the Chair of Economic and Social Geography at the European University Viadrina in Frankfurt (Oder). Subsequently, from 2000 to 2006 research assistant in the economic geography department of the Institute for Geography at the University of Hamburg , interrupted by a visiting scholar at the Department of Environmental & Geographical Sciences at the University of Cape Town in 2002 and a visiting scholar at Northeastern University in Boston, Center for Urban and Regional Policy in 2005. She completed her habilitation in geography with the habilitation thesis "Property-led development in Boston: urban development, real estate management and local politics" at the University of Hamburg.

Heeg's research deals with central aspects of urban economy and urban culture. She is particularly interested in conditions and factors in the production of the built environment. Her research focuses on urban economics, in particular the geography of the real estate industry ("Real Estate Market Research"), the geography of the world economy, as well as the geography of work and political economy.
