Susanne Schwandt

Susanne Schwandt , née Klünder (* 1943 in Althagen ) is a German graphic artist and illustrator.

Life

Susanne Schwandt was born in 1943 as the daughter of the artist couple Arnold Klünder and Barbara Klünder . Her maternal grandparents were the artist couple Fritz Koch-Gotha and Dora Koch-Stetter . She spent her childhood on the Fischland , where the three generations lived under one roof in Althagen. Her parents had already shaped her career aspiration to become a graphic artist, draftsman or book illustrator. After graduating from high school and doing an internship in a Berlin printing company, she studied at the Halle University of Applied Sciences, Burg Giebichenstein in Halle (Saale) . She completed her studies in the graphics class of Walter Funkat in 1968 with a diploma. The painter Wasja Götze and the textile designer Inge Götze were already close friends in Halle . Susanne Schwandt's invitations made Ahrenshoop -Althagen a refuge and temporary place of work for the Götze family for several years.

Susanne Schwandt became a member of the Association of Visual Artists , she earned her living with various artistic works. In 1972 she married the publisher Tell Schwandt (* 1948) and moved to Berlin (West). As the mother of three children, she rarely comes to work for her art during these years. Since 1988 she has returned to her profession. She works as an animator, schoolbook illustrator and as an illustrator for children's books. Susanne Schwandt now lives with her family in Berlin. Her son Samuel Schwandt (* 1976) is also a painter and designer.
