Susanne Winnacker

Susanne Winnacker (* 1959 in Neuenhaus ) is a German theater scholar and director. As rector, she heads the Rostock University of Music and Theater .

Life

After studying German, philosophy and art history at the Philipps University in Marburg and studying applied theater studies at the Justus Liebig University in Gießen , Susanne Winnacker worked at the Institute for Theater, Film and Media Studies at the Johann Wolfgang Goethe University in Frankfurt on the Main . Here she introduced a new course together with Hans-Thies Lehmann . In 1994 Susanne Winnacker received her doctorate from Frankfurt University, where she worked as a university assistant until 2000. At the same time she realized numerous projects at the university, but also outside of it. She worked as a freelance dramaturge in Germany and was Visiting Professor at New York University in 1997 . Together with Christine Peters and Hans-Thies Lehmann, she initiated the International Summer Academy in Frankfurt am Main and, as project manager, was responsible for the conception of the academy.

After 2000 Susanne Winnacker worked as chief editor in the theater and media department at S. Fischer Verlag . At the same time, she took on the artistic direction of the festival Kroonstukjes / Kronjuwelen in Münster , which was dedicated to contemporary Flemish and Dutch theater and which was dedicated to contemporary Flemish and Dutch theater.

From 2002 to 2005 Susanne Winnacker was a member of the management team at the Academy for Experimental Theater and Music DasArts in Amsterdam , and in 2004 she also took over the overall management of the Welt theater festival in Basel . After 2005 she worked for six years as deputy director, chief dramaturge and curator for dance at the German National Theater in Weimar .

On October 1st, 2012 Susanne Winnacker was elected Rector of the Rostock University of Music and Theater . On October 1, 2016, she was confirmed for a second term. She was awarded the title of honorary professor for her services at the university.
