The Sutterlüty Handels GmbH (short Sutterlüty ) is a Vorarlberg food retail and food service. The company operates 23 stores with around 700 employees.
history
Sutterlüty was created in 1952 from the supply of goods to the large kitchen of a sawmill. Three years later Ulrich Sutterlüty opened his first self-service shop with 80 m² sales area. In 1961 the first expansion took place with the opening of a market in Rankweil on Vinomnaplatz, which contained Austria's first fresh meat department. In 1976 the Sutterlüty-Eurospar was opened in Rankweil. The “City Park” shopping center opened in Dornbirn in 1984 and was renovated in 2006. In 1993 the "Dorfpark" opened in Götzis with its hotel. Until 2003 Sutterlüty was a partner of Spar . In November 2003 Sutterlüty decided to cooperate with the Rewe Group . Rewe has a 24.9% stake in Sutterlüty; There is a close purchasing cooperation between the two companies.
In the 2000s, Sutterlüty renovated a large part of its 22 markets, including the Dornbirn Kehlerpark, which fell victim to arsonists in June 2012. In the anniversary year 2012, the KDW (Kaufhaus der Wälder) and the market in Hohenems were opened. The last new opening took place in 2014 on Stiegstrasse in Rankweil.

Sutterlüty has set itself the goal of becoming the supermarket with the smallest ecological footprint by 2020. Through consistent guidelines for new buildings and renovations, according to information provided by the company, a total of around 70 tons of CO 2 and 50% of energy were saved in one store.
gusto
Sutterlüty operates 17 restaurants (as of 2015) under the name Gusto in the country markets. Regional, seasonal cuisine for a quick lunch is offered as well as breakfast or coffee and cake.
Others
In January 2015, Sutterlüty Handels GmbH and nine other Vorarlberg companies founded the “Climate Neutrality Alliance 2025” with the aim of making all of their activities 100 percent climate neutral by 2025.
