The Sutton Heights are a group of around 800 m high hills in the north of the West Antarctic Alexander I Island . They loom between the Lassus Mountains and Debussy Heights .
Aerial photographs of the American Ronne Antarctic Research Expedition (1947-1948) were used by the British geographer Derek Searle from the Falkland Islands Dependencies Survey 1959 for mapping. The British Antarctic Survey (BAS) carried out surveys between 1975 and 1976. The UK Antarctic Place-Names Committee named them in 1980 after the British geologist John Sutton (1919-1992) from Imperial College London , who was a member of the BAS Scientific Advisory Board from 1970 to 1985.
