Suzuki Masatsugu ( Japanese 鈴木雅次 ; born 6. March 1889 in Matsumoto ( Nagano Prefecture ); died 28. May 1987 ) was a Japanese civil engineer.

Live and act

Suzuki Masatsugu graduated from Kyūshū University in 1914 and began working in the Department of Public Works in the Ministry of the Interior. He worked there until 1945 and took over a professorship at Nihon University in 1946 , which he held until 1963. He was chairman of the (日本 土木 学会, Nihon doboku gakkai), (港湾 審議 会, Kōwan shingi-kai) and other institutions.

Suzuki had specialized in port construction and became known with the expansion of the port area of Kashima (鹿島 臨海 工業 地 帯, Kashima rinkai kōgyō chitai) to an industrial area. His publications include

  • "Port construction" (港湾 工 学, Kōwan kōgaku) ​​1933,
  • "The River" (河, Kawa) 1941 and
  • "The Builder" (土木 屋 さ ん, Dobokuya-san) 1956.

In 1968 Suzuki was honored as a person with special cultural merits and was awarded the Order of Culture in the same year .
