The Svatokřížský les (German: Heiligenkreuzwald) is a dense forest area on a ridge between the border with Germany and the town of Svatý Kříž (German: Heiligenkreuz) in the Výhledská vrchovina (German about: Oberkunreuther Bergland), south of the town of Cheb (German: Eger ) in Karlovarský kraj (German: Region Karlsbad) in the Czech Republic .

geography

The mountain ridge consists of several elevations between the hills Krátery (German: Krater, 587 m), Šlingova Mýť (German: Schlindelhau, 549 m) and U Rozcestí (German: Zwiesel, 541 m). The second class road 214 runs through the forest area from Cheb to Waldsassen .

Tourist development

The Památník obětem železné opony (German: Memorial to the Victims of the Iron Curtain) near Svatý Kříž is worth mentioning .

history

The forest used to serve as a source of raw materials for the cities of Eger and Waldsassen.
