Sveinung Bjelland

Sveinung Bjelland (* 1970 in Stavanger , Norway ) is a Norwegian pianist .

Life

Bjelland studied with Hans Leygraf at the Mozarteum in Salzburg and at the University of the Arts , today Berlin University of the Arts , in Berlin, where he graduated with honors. In 1999 he was named Young Soloist of the Year by the Norwegian State Orchestra .

Bjelland has worked with well-known orchestras and soloists and under various conductors since then. Various song recordings were made with the Norwegian singer Isa Katharina Gericke . In 2006 his recording of sonatas by Mendelssohn and Domenico Scarlatti was nominated for the Norwegian Spelemannspris . His debut at London's Wigmore Hall was in October 2008.

On July 1, 2014, Bjelland was appointed professor for piano from Agder University in Kristiansand , Norway.
