Sven Krüger (born October 31, 1973 in Frankenberg / Sa. ) Is a German politician (non-party, until 2018 SPD ) and since 2015 Lord Mayor of the city of Freiberg .

education

After Sven Krüger received his secondary school diploma in Flöha in 1990 , he completed his education in Chemnitz in 1992 with the general university entrance qualification. After completing his professional training in 1995, he initially worked as a banker . He became a savings bank specialist in 1997 and a savings bank economist in 2002. He graduated from the Frankfurt School of Finance & Management in 2008 with a degree in banking.

politics

Krüger joined the SPD in 1998 . In 2009 he was appointed mayor for administration and finance in Freiberg . In 2014 he was elected to the district council in the district of Central Saxony . In 2015 he stood in Freiberg as a candidate for the successor to the retiring mayor Bernd-Erwin Schramm . After receiving the most votes in the first ballot with a share of 41.7 percent, Krüger prevailed on June 21, 2015 in the second ballot with 54 percent. On August 1, 2015, he officially assumed the office of Lord Mayor of Freiberg.

On September 20, 2018, Sven Krüger resigned from the SPD with immediate effect out of frustration at the grand coalition in Berlin.
