Sven Kramer (literary scholar)

Sven Kramer (* 1961 in Hamburg ) is a German literary and cultural scientist.

Life

Kramer studied modern German literature and political science in Hamburg and St. Louis , USA . He received his doctorate in 1995 from the University of Hamburg and completed his habilitation there in 2001.

Between 2002 and 2005, he was initially a DAAD Visiting Associate Professor at the University of Toronto , Canada , and then briefly as a Senior Lecturer at the University of Melbourne , Australia .

Since the end of 2005 he has been Professor of Modern German Literary Studies and Literary Cultures at the Faculty of Cultural Studies at Leuphana University Lüneburg .

research

His research interests include: coding of violence in literature and film; the Shoah in film and literature; Genre theory and history of the essay and the essay film; literary theoretical and aesthetic issues in the context of critical theory , deconstruction and critical hermeneutics.

Sven Kramer has been managing editor of the journal for critical theory since 2006 , which he co-founded in 1995.
