Sven Räther

Sven Räther is a German  punk bassist. He is best known as a founding member of  Slime

Career

He attended the  Heidberg high school  in the Hamburg district of  Langenhorn , where he also  graduated  from high school. There he came  into contact with political music through  clay stones and was musically influenced by the  Ramones  . When the punk wave spilled over to Germany, he and his school friends  Michael "Elf" Mayer and Peter "Ball" Wodok founded Slime in 1979. With Slime he recorded three studio albums and one live album before the band split up in 1984. With Mayer and  The Buttocks bassist Stephen Larsson, who replaced Stephan Mahler at Slime in 1984, he founded the short-lived band  Targets .

Räther is married and has one son.
