Svend-Gunnar Kirmes (born November 19, 1949 in Altenburg ) is a German lawyer and politician (CDU). He has been a member of the Saxon State Parliament since 2009 . There he is the oldest member of parliament.

Life

After graduating from the Thomas School in Leipzig in 1969 , he first became an information processing engineer in 1976. From 1976 to 1982 he studied law at the Humboldt University in Berlin . Since 1984 he is a qualified lawyer , lawyer specializing in family law . In 1990 he was a co-founder of the Leipzig Lawyers' Association and its deputy chairman from 1990 to 1994. From 1994 to 2002 he held the office of chairman. From 2002 to 2009 he was President of the Saxony Bar Association . He was a co-founder of the Friends' Association of the Institute for Legal Law at Leipzig University and was its chairman until 2004. Since 2003 he has been a member of the DAV board.

Kirmes lives in Leipzig, is married and has two daughters.

politics

From 1971 to the beginning of September 1989 Kirmes was a member of the SED . In 2008 he joined the CDU. Since 2013 he has been chairman of the CDU local association in Grimma.

In the state elections in 2009 he succeeded as a direct candidate in the constituency of Muldental 2 with a share of the vote of 37.4% in the Saxon state parliament. He is a member of the Constitutional, Legal and European Committees and the Committee on Rules of Procedure and Immunity Matters. Since April 2012 he has been one of 19 members of the Saxon NSU investigative committee "Neo-Nazi Terror Networks in Saxony". After the state elections in 2014 , in which he secured his re-entry into the state parliament with a 42.3% share of the vote in constituency 25 (Leipzig Land 3), Kirmes was elected president of the state parliament (due to the renunciation of Detlev Spangenberg ( AfD )) the 6th electoral term . He is now a member of the constitutional and legal committee, the committee for rules of procedure and immunity matters, and chairman of the G-10 commission of the state parliament for monitoring the protection of the constitution in Saxony .

In the state elections in Saxony in 2019 , he was elected constituency member in the Leipzig Land 3 constituency with 29.9% of the direct votes.
