The island of Školj (also Sveti Marko , Stradioti ) is the largest island in the Bay of Kotor and, along with the Flower Island and Gospa od Milosti, one of the three islands in the Tivat Basin , also known as the Krtoljski Archipelago .

In the Middle Ages the island was called Sveti Gavrilo (Eng. "Saint Gabriel"), after a Nemanjiden foundation, the Orthodox monastery of the same name. During the Venetian rule the island was named Stradioti after a barracks of Venetian soldiers of Greek origin, the stradiotes . From 1968 to 1990 the island was home to the attractive holiday complex Sveti Marko , from which the current name of the island is derived.
