Svoboda farm
The Svoboda-Hof is a council in the 19th Vienna district Döbling . It was built between 1926 and 1927 according to plans by the architect Karl Ehn and comprises 59 apartments.

The Svoboda-Hof is located in the Döblingen cadastral municipality of Heiligenstadt . The almost U-shaped residential complex borders three streets, with the long side of the community building taking up the entire southern side of Geistingergasse. In the west, the Svoboda-Hof borders on Heiligenstädter Strasse, in the east on Boschstrasse. The official address of the residential complex is Heiligenstädter Straße 80.
To the north of the Svoboda-Hof there is another, much larger municipal housing, the Karl-Marx-Hof .
History and structure
The Svoboda-Hof represents a gap construction next to the elongated Karl-Marx-Hof. Since the municipality of Vienna was not always able to acquire contiguous plots of land, it built smaller municipal buildings like the Svoboda-Hof on remaining areas in order to quickly create additional living space.
The Svoboda-Hof residential complex consists of a single structure comprising four floors and an attic. In order to be able to connect the apartment block to the neighboring buildings, the Svoboda-Hof at the junctions in Heiligenstädter Straße and Boschstraße was raised by one floor over a width of two window axes. Access to the four staircases of the community building is through the inner courtyard. The clinker-clad entrance portal is on Heiligenstädter Strasse. A long balcony extends over it. The facades are loosened up by bay-like protrusions and balconies drawn around corners.
The Svoboda-Hof was named in 1948 after the group leader of the Schutzbund Emil Svoboda (1898-1934), who defended the Karl-Marx-Hof during the Austrian Civil War and was then sentenced to death by a court martial and executed .
Between 1988 and 1989 the plinth was renovated and the facade, windows and doors were renewed. The renovation costs amounted to around 1,230,000 euros.
