Swan Island is an island in the River Thames near Twickenham in the London Borough of Richmond upon Thames , London , England . The island is located in the tidal part of the Thames approximately 1.2 kilometers downstream from Teddington Lock .
The island is used as a port managed by the Port of London Authority . In addition to commercial use, there are also boats that are used for living on the island. The island is connected to Twickenham by a bridge that can be used by smaller vehicles and pedestrians.
