Swarthoull Old Schoolhouse

The Swarthoull Old Schoolhouse , also Swart Houll School , is a former school building on the Scottish Shetland island of Bressay . In 1993 the facility was included in the Scottish Monuments List in Category C.

In earlier times the Bressay school was housed in this building. It was built around 1820 and was in use until the early 20th century. It consists of the two-story main building with three vertical window axes, which is adjoined to the east by a one-story extension with two window axes. The drywall is made of quarry stone , which is made up of the island's sandstone . The window openings are set off with stone edging. There is a gable roof , which was described as collapsed in 1996. The entrance is in the middle on the south side. On the opposite side of the building, two windows are installed to the left of the center of the facade. There is a walled-up door on the ground floor. The gables in the east and west are unadorned. The interior is burned out. The building is enclosed by a quarry stone wall.
