Swedenborgian Church
The Swedenborgian Church of San Francisco is a church building of the Church of the New Jerusalem in San Francisco, USA .
The church, completed in 1895, was planned by Joseph Worcester , from a family of Swedenborgian pastors and theologians, and implemented by the architects A. Page Brown and Bernard Maybeck . The structure was erected on a corner lot in the Pacific Heights district and consists of a complex of three buildings connected by a garden. It's in the style of the Arts and Crafts movement . The floor and wall cladding of the sanctuary are made of wood. The visible roof structure is supported by the uncut trunks of the California strawberry tree .
The Swedenborgian Church was declared a National Historic Landmark on August 18, 2004 as the only sacred building in San Francisco and was included in the National Register of Historic Places. It is regularly rented as a " wedding church " and is one of the most booked locations of its kind in the United States.
