The Sweep Rock is a cliff off the George V coast in the Australian Antarctic Territory . It belongs to the Mackellar Islands in the Commonwealth Bay and is located immediately northwest of Cape Denison .
Participants of the Australasian Antarctic Expedition (1911-1914) under the direction of the Australian polar explorer Douglas Mawson discovered him. It is named after one of the sled dogs on the research trip. This, in turn, was named after the English-language name for a certain betting method that was popular among the expedition participants.
