Swuki Mu ( Russian Зву́ки Му ; English transcription Zvuki Mu ) was an avant-garde rock band from Russia in the 1980s and 1990s and was in fact the solo project of band leader Pyotr Mamonov in the following years . The name translates as sounds of mu , whereby the meaning of mu remains open: as an abbreviation for music , Moscow's streets (Russian M oskowskije u lizy ) or as the sound of the cows moo .
history
Founded in 1981, Swuki Mu quickly achieved cult status, especially in the intellectual scene, thanks to Pyotr Mamonov's eccentric stage shows and his absurd lyrics. The first albums initially appeared only on audio cassettes and were only later released as CDs. The group's popularity grew suddenly with the release of the album Prostyje weschtschi ("Simple Things") in 1988 and television appearances during this time. Combined with simple sound structures and synthesizer sounds, this music was untypical for the Soviet rock music of the 1980s. She is considered an influential pioneer of many contemporary Russian bands.
