Sydney Camm
Sir Sydney Camm , CBE (born August 5, 1893 in Windsor , † March 12, 1966 in Richmond , London ) was a British aeronautical engineer . His most famous developments are likely to have been the Hawker Hurricane and the Hawker Siddeley Harrier .
Life
Camm first came into contact with aircraft in 1912. In 1926 he became chief engineer at HG Hawker Engineering Co. Ltd. and kept this post until the end of his life. Camm was beaten in 1953 to the Knight Bachelor ("Sir") and was accepted as Commander in the Order of the British Empire . As an active designer, Camm experienced the beginnings of powered flight up to the passenger aircraft for twice the speed of sound. Camm was considered brilliant by his employees, but difficult.
