Sylvan Lake is a city in central Alberta , Canada. It is located 25 kilometers west of the town of Red Deer along Alberta Highway 11 or Highway 11A . It lies on the southeastern edge of Sylvan Lake , a nine-mile long freshwater lake in Red Deer County .
The lake is a popular destination for tourists from across Alberta, with more than 1.5 million visitors annually. Popular tourist activities include sunbathing, swimming, water skiing, and Camp Woods . Camp Woods in Sylvan Lake hosted the 12th Canadian Scout Jamboree in July 2013.
