Sylvester Walch

Sylvester Walter Walch (born May 10, 1950 in Berchtesgaden ) is a German author, lecturer, trainer for transpersonal psychotherapy (including holotropic breathing ), integrative gestalt therapy and integrative therapy.

Life

Sylvester Walch studied psychology, psychiatry, psychopathology and philosophy at the University of Salzburg. During a study visit to New Orleans University, he was also awarded honorary citizenship. He obtained his doctorate in 1979. phil. In his dissertation, which was published in book form in 1981, he devoted himself to the subject, reality and coping with reality . From 1974 on he got to know different therapeutic methods in the field of humanistic psychology and worked intensively on clinical psychology. He worked in a psychiatric hospital and managed an inpatient psychotherapeutic facility for 6 years.

In addition to his freelance therapeutic work, he has also worked as a trainer for integrative therapy, integrative gestalt therapy, person-centered psychotherapy and group dynamics since 1979. From 1985 he dealt intensively with the integration of psychotherapy, spirituality, body therapy, modern consciousness research and ancient knowledge. He deepened his knowledge by training with Stanislav Grof . Against this background, he founded an independent path in 1989 and trained psychotherapists in transpersonal psychology, psychotherapy and holotropic breathing.

Sylvester Walch wrote scientific papers on transpersonal psychology , transpersonal psychotherapy , holotropic breathing and the integration of psychotherapy and spirituality. In 1994 he was appointed honorary chairman of the Austrian working group for transpersonal psychology and psychotherapy.

His work Dimensions of the Human Soul is a fundamental work of transpersonal psychology and psychotherapy. Sylvester Walch presents a specific concept based on Stanislav Grof and provides an introduction to the technique of holotropic breathing and working with altered states of consciousness.
