program

The publishing house was originally founded by Peter Ernst in 1989 for the publication of Germanistic publications. But soon other philological subjects followed with English studies , Romance studies and Scandinavian studies, which consolidated the literary and linguistic publisher profile. Michael Ritter took over the management of the publishing house in 2002.

Annual publications include stimulus, communications from the Austrian Society for German Studies and the Austrian Literature Yearbook , whose work (sschau) was recognized as follows:

“To summarize the entire domestic literary business of a year is a thankless, arduous task. Since 2002 Michael Ritter, publisher of Edition Praesens, has mastered this challenge with quite a bravura: The volume "praesent 2007", which commented on and analyzed literary events in Austria from July 2005 to June 2006, fits in seamlessly with those from a critical distance authored, rarely praising yearbook series. The latest edition of the ongoing chronicle of Austrian literature includes a review of an "exemplary failed CD-ROM edition" of Karl Kraus ' magazine " Die Fackel " and an essay about a recent bestselling author: "A sleeping chameleon - a fictional dialogue about Thomas Glavinic "."
