Synagogue (Ashyany)

The synagogue in Ashyany , a small town in Hrodsenskaya Woblasz in northern Belarus , was built in the middle of the 19th century and rebuilt in 1902 to its present form. The synagogue was damaged during World War II and then used for other purposes. Today the building is empty and in ruins.

Before 1941, the proportion of the Jewish population in Ashmyany was very high. The majority of the Jewish population was murdered by the German occupiers during the Holocaust .
