The synagogue in Erlenbach bei Dahn , a local community in the district of Südwestpfalz in Rhineland-Palatinate , was built in 1842. The synagogue was at 17 Hauptstrasse.

history

In 1837 the Jewish community bought a house with a stable and courtyard in order to set up their synagogue. The building attendant Rübli drew the plans and in 1842 the construction work was carried out. However, it was a new building and not, as initially planned, a renovation. The single-storey plastered quarry stone building had a floor area of 90 m².

At the beginning of October 1938 the synagogue was desecrated and the interior was destroyed. The construction management in Pirmasens, responsible for the construction of the western wall , cleared the synagogue and used it as a cement warehouse . Months later, the municipality of Erlenbach received the synagogue building from the Gau economic authority in exchange for the clean-up work in December 1938.

On March 19, 1945, the synagogue was destroyed in an American bomb attack; the ruin was torn down in 1948.
