Synagogue (Hofheim am Taunus)
The synagogue in Hofheim am Taunus , a town in the Main-Taunus district in Hesse , was set up in a tower, called the Büttelturm , of the city fortifications from the 14th century at the end of the 16th or 17th century . The secular synagogue is located at Burggrabenstrasse 14 by the city wall .
history
The interior of the synagogue was destroyed during the November pogrom in 1938 .
The historic tower was preserved after 1945. The building was renovated in 1983.
In 1976 a first billboard was put up, which was replaced by a new billboard on November 13, 1985 with the inscription: “Part of the city fortifications, built after 1352, over a long period of time until it was devastated by the National Socialists on November 9, 1938 Synagogue of the Jewish community . "
After the renovation in 1983, a wine bar was set up in the former synagogue.
