The former synagogue of Tost (Polish: Toszek ) came from the 19th century and was located in the north of the old town.

history

The Toster Synagogue was built in 1836, was kept very simple from the outside, had no towers and was directly adjacent between two residential buildings. The construction was made possible at this point north of the ring after almost all buildings in Tost were destroyed by fire on May 20, 1833 and the city had to be almost completely rebuilt. In the same year the Toster town hall was completed.

On November 10, 1938, it was set on fire by the National Socialists at around 2 a.m. During these November pogroms , three shops belonging to Jewish owners were demolished and some Jews were deported. The burned out synagogue still existed after the Second World War and fell into disrepair. The ruins were torn down in the 1960s. The property at ul. Piastowska 13 was sold in the 1970s; a house was built on it.

On November 9, 2012, a memorial plaque was unveiled in front of the former synagogue site.
