The Ratibor Synagogue was a synagogue on Szewska Street in Racibórz (German Ratibor ). The synagogue was a seven-axis sacral building in neo-Romanesque style with Moorish influences in the form of a basilica with two towers on the west side and galleries .

history

In 1803 a royal Jewish tolerance office was set up and on March 11, 1812, Friedrich Wilhelm III. the Prussian Jewish edict . A Jewish community could then be established again in Ratibor . The first synagogue was built in 1829 and enlarged in 1863.

The sacred building was damaged during the November pogrom in 1938. Ruins of the building remained until the 1960s. Today there is a park at its former location.
