history

The synagogue in Épernay was built in 1889/90 by the architect Henry Clouet . In 1918 it was badly damaged in a bombing raid during the First World War and was rebuilt after the war. On the gable of the neo-Byzantine facade and on the south side there are rosettes on which a Star of David is depicted. This new synagogue, replacing the old one from 1865, was inaugurated on September 8, 1890.

Since May 26, 2004 the Épernay synagogue has been a monument worthy of protection ( monument historique ).
