The synagogue in Angenrod , a district of Alsfeld in the Vogelsbergkreis in Central Hesse , was built in 1797. The former synagogue was in Judengasse.

history

The lords of Noding had made a plot of land available for the construction of the synagogue. In 1861 the synagogue was renovated and expanded. Regular services were held in the synagogue until 1938 .

On September 18, 1940, Sally Wertheim, as the last chairman of the Jewish community in Angenrod, sold the synagogue building to the community of Angenrod. The building went to a businessman from Angenrode in 1955. In 1960 he sold the synagogue building back to the municipality of Angenrod.

In 1961 the synagogue building was demolished.

Commemoration

On October 20, 2013, a plaque was inaugurated in memory of the synagogue.
