Systems in Blue is a German music project that was founded in 2003 by the former studio singers of Modern Talking and Blue System under the direction of Rolf Köhler and Thomas Widrat.

history

In 2000 there was a break between Dieter Bohlen's studio singers Rolf Köhler, Detlef Wiedeke, Michael Scholz and the record company Sony BMG when they asked for more money for their work in the studio, which led to the termination of the collaboration. When Köhler wanted to turn to the public with his allegations that Bohlen had never sung on a CD himself, the record company paid the three singers the equivalent of 50,000 euros.

In order to keep the familiar sound alive, the music project Systems in Blue was started in 2003 , the name is supposed to be an allusion to the earlier project Blue System , the logo was also copied and the sound was a 1: 1 imitation of the early music genre of Blue system .

Before the turn of the year, the musicians recorded three tracks, with Thomas Widrat doing the text poetry. Six months later, the first single Magic Mystery was released, which reached the top of the European Dance Charts . The second single, Winner , contains a song that was sung with Judith Burmeister, a retired DSDS candidate. The commercial success as well as a chart entry failed to materialize with either publication. The last pre-release single was Point of No Return , with which the band made a few smaller television appearances on ZDF - Guten Morgen . A short time later the album of the same name was released. Tours followed, which took the band from Germany to Israel to Siberia .

In 2005 the band shot their first video 1001 Nights , which was released in 2006 on the fourth single of the same name. In the same year there were collaborations with other musicians, for example Systems in Blue produced the single I want everything and more by Tommy Fischer and some pieces by singer Patty Ryan. The joint single with Mark Ashley Give a Little Sweet Love was also produced and released.

In the summer of 2007 the single Voodoo Queen was released before the band retired to work on their new album.

Death of Rolf Koehler

In September 2007 Köhler suffered a stroke, which he died days later in hospital. The rest of the band then stopped working on the new album and an obituary was published on the band's website and on stern.de .

A release of the new album could not be realized before Christmas 2007. Therefore, the release of the album was postponed and the single Dr. No preferred. In March 2008 the album Out of the Blue was finally released . Another attempt to reach the German charts failed again. A short time later, the album Heartbreak Boulevard by Mark Ashley, which was also produced by Systems in Blue .

In May 2008 the lyricist Widrat left the band for personal reasons.

In early 2009 the single System in Blue was released , which was a re-release of the fan single of the same name from 2005. The band also planned to release a second single from the album Out of the Blue . Due to differences with her label, the single was only released digitally in the end. In spring 2009 the remix album Heaven and Hell was released instead .

After a break, Systems in Blue will present their third album in autumn 2017 and continue their project in a new formation in the familiar style.

Systems in Blue as a producer

As in the time before Systems in Blue , the band members often act as producers for other musicians: For example, they hired the retired DSDS candidate Burmeister as the singer for the song Only 4 You , which is featured on the single Winner . However, some records have also been released that were only produced by Systems in Blue .
