Foundation and company history

T + A elektroakustik GmbH was founded in 1978 by Siegfried Amft. The company name (company) T + A stands for "Theory and Application in Audio Technology".

Initially, the company worked in the field of public address technology, but soon developed the first commercially marketed products with the omnidirectional radiating loudspeakers of the Delta series.

In the following years, the technology of the transmission line loudspeakers was further developed and in 1982 led to the TMR (Transmission Multi Resonator ) loudspeaker series with multiple delay line technology. In 1982, T + A began research into the use of control technology in loudspeaker construction. The knowledge gained was implemented in the Solitaire OEC speaker series with the opto-electronic membrane position sensors patented for T + A from 1984 onwards. In the Solitaire loudspeakers, T + A also used a combination of electrostatic loudspeakers with directly coupled high-voltage electron tube amplifiers for the first time .

In 1986 the first pre- and power amplifiers appeared under the name T + A Pulsar. In the years that followed, Pulsar electronics was expanded into a complete range of audio and video components and is now represented in the T + A product range in a more advanced form as the R series .

The Pulsar AudioCon series, which appeared in 1988 , was one of the first device series in the entertainment electronics sector to have a bus system for networking the various devices to form a system with a central system remote control.

In 1995, as the successor to the Solitaire OEC loudspeakers, the Solitaire A2D, the first fully digitally controlled active loudspeaker, was launched on the world market.

In March 2020, T + A launched their first headphones, the Solitaire P. The Solitaire P represents the prelude to a complete headphone concept from T + A and is accompanied by the HA 200 headphone amplifier.

T + A primarily produces high-end devices in the high-price range and is a member of the High End Society e. V., the association for high-quality consumer electronics.
