The Töss relay race is a school sports - relay in Winterthur , which has been held since 1980 and each takes place in the spring. With up to 3350 participants and 370 teams (2014) it is behind “ De schnällscht Zürihegel ” (although the participants do not compete there during their school days and the event is organized by the gymnastics clubs), the second largest school sport event in the canton of Zurich and one of the largest in the Switzerland . It is organized by the Sports Office of the City of Winterthur.

The start and finish point of the relay is the riding arena in Töss . Since the riding arena has no connection to public transport and the driveway is closed to private traffic on the day of the event, the classes will be driven to the event with extra buses. While a distance of 22.6 km was contested up to 2009, the route was changed in 2010 for organizational reasons, a new distance of 16.0 km will be contested by 9 instead of the previous 10 runners. While the old route largely followed the Töss river , the new one also leads into the Eschenberg forest. Intermediate and advanced grades (4th to 9th grade) can take part. The participants are each recruited from the Canton of Zurich (also a few teams from outside), with the majority of the participants coming from the Winterthur region. Thanks to the patronage of the ZKB, the event is free of charge for the participants.
