TEMSA GLOBAL A.Ş. , Temsa for short , is a Turkish company founded in Adana in 1968 . Temsa has been manufacturing city buses , coaches and light trucks since 1984 . The company's premises in Adana cover a total area of 400,000 square meters, of which 58,500 square meters are built on. The trucks, on the other hand, are manufactured in the 153,000 square meter facility in Adapazarı . Temsa produces around 4,000 buses and 7,500 small trucks annually.

history

Temsa Global was originally a company only selling cars and construction machinery owned by Sabancı Holding , one of Turkey's largest conglomerates . In 1984 the company began manufacturing buses under a license from Mitsubishi . With the "Safari", Temsa's first in-house development came onto the market in 2001. Since then the company has been independent and has presented 11 of its own new developments to date. Temsa is now one of the largest independent bus manufacturers in Turkey.

With a length of 13.90 m and an output of 480 hp, the Diamond luxury bus was the company's flagship and was replaced by the Safari HD14, which was also three-axle and now 14.07 m long.

In addition to numerous international titles for technology and design, Temsa received the "Busbuilder Of The Year 2008" award at Busworld , the world's largest and oldest exhibition for buses.

Temsa city buses are exported to transport companies across Europe. In Germany, for example, the Havelbus Verkehrsgesellschaft has been operating some three-door vehicles of the Avenue LF type and PRG Greiz vehicles of the Avenue, Tourmalin and Safari types since the end of 2012 .

In 2016, a purely electric version of the Avenue bus with a 70 kWh battery and a range of 60 km was presented. This is charged at the terminus with a 450 kW direct current fast charging station. Charging takes place automatically by extending a charging arm on the top of the bus that connects to the charging station. The charging time is 8 to 10 minutes. The electric motor has an output of 250 kW and a torque of 2700 Nm, the maximum speed is 80 km / h.

In June 2019, Temsa was sold by Sabancı Holding to the Swiss investor True Value Capital Partners . In December 2019, Temsa announced that due to difficulties in the course of the share transfer, all production will be temporarily stopped.

In February 2020, Skoda and Sabanci Holding agreed to each take over a 50% stake in Temsa.
