The bulk carrier type Tsuneishi Economical Standard Ship 45 , TESS 45 for short , was built in Japan in a larger series and is considered one of the standard ships in its market segment.

details

The TESS 45 series from the Japanese shipbuilding group Tsuneishi Zosen was a more powerful further development of the successful predecessor TESS 40 and was delivered from 1994. In the following years, the type sold very successfully and continued a series, the subsequent designs of which are still being built today. Starting in 1999, followed the once powerful type TESS 52 , and in 2003 was from the TESS 52 essentially by the design to a larger depth of the type TESS 58 developed. In May 2014 the TESS 64 Aeroline, a further development of the TESS 58 with an increased load capacity of 63,700 tons, was presented. A total of over 300 units of the entire TESS series have been built so far.

The TESS-45 vessels are as Handymax - bulk with aft arranged structures designed. You have five cargo holds with a volume of 57,209 m³ or 55,565 m³ of ball space for bulk goods. Each hold is served by its own hatch, the hatch covers of which are operated hydraulically. Four hydraulic ship cranes mounted amidships are available for cargo handling . The ship type can transport around 42,200 tonnes at a draft draft of 10.95 m and around 45,400 tonnes at a maximum discharge at 11.62 m. The units are designed for the transport of various bulk goods , such as grain, coal, minerals, including various dangerous goods. The tank roof of the cargo hold is reinforced for the transport of ore. In addition, bagged goods, steel profiles, tubes and other bulk cargo as well as wood can be transported. The deck area is prepared for the transport of logs with built-in deck supports.

The ships are powered by a MAN B&W 6S50MC two - stroke diesel engine built under license in Japan . The engine enables a speed of around 14  knots . There are three auxiliary diesels and an emergency diesel generator available.
