TJ Jiskra Domažlice is a Czech football club from the West Bohemian town of Domažlice .
Club history
Beginnings
Today's club TJ Jiskra can be traced back to the first football club founded in Domažlice, SK Šumava , which was founded in 1908 . Various renaming and mergers followed. The club usually only appeared regionally. In the years 1969–1972, however, the first men's team played in a higher class.
Modern times
In the new millennium, Jiskra drew attention to itself in 2007 with its promotion to the fourth highest Czech football league, followed by promotion to the third Czech league in 2011, which made the club known nationwide. In the first season in the ČFL, the team played in the top third of the table for almost the entire season and finished in 6th place. In the following season this result could be improved with a 4th place. On September 5, 2012, the team attracted attention by defeating first division Dynamo Budweis in the second round of the Czech Cup , but was eliminated in the later round of 16 against first division FK Teplice .
In the 2013/14 season Jiskra Domažlice took eighth place in the ČFL. In the 2014/15 season, after surprising victories against the first division club FK Dukla Prague and the second division club FK Pardubice , the team reached the round of 16 of the Czech Cup , but was eliminated there, as in the previous year, against FK Teplice. 3rd place in the league was achieved. Since then, the team has been at the top of the league.
