Niederbayern TV Passau (proper spelling: NIEDERBAYERN TV Passau) based in Passau is a regional television broadcaster in Bavaria. It was founded in 1985 as the first regional broadcaster in Bavaria.

The three regional TV channels Donau TV, Isar TV and TRP1 became the new channel Niederbayern TV in 2019. The three houses look back on a long history.

The regional television broadcaster TRP1 (Tele Regional Passau 1), based in Passau, went on the air in 1985 and was founded by Christian Repa and Andreas Werner. Both shareholders were also managing directors until March 2019.

Since April 2019, the station has been run with new shareholders under the name Niederbayern TV Passau GmbH. Thomas Eckl has been the managing director since then, and Marco Wühr is the program director.

The company has the following investment structure:

  • Niederbayern TV Programm- und Werbe GmbH & Co. KG: 35%
  • Heribert Wühr: 30%
  • Marco Wühr: 5%
  • Christian Repa: 10%
  • Andreas Werner: 10%
  • Michael Imhoff: 7%
  • Ice Hockey News Verlag- und Verwaltungs GmbH: 3%

Transmission area and times

The transmission area includes the city of Passau and the districts of Passau, Freyung-Grafenau and Rottal-Inn.

The transmitter sends:

  • 24 hours in the cable
  • on digital satellite TV from 6:30 p.m. every 90 minutes in the program network on the Niederbayern channel

Niederbayern TV Passau broadcasts a classic special- interest program that consists exclusively of news and information :

Video journalists who have been trained in our own editorial team are predominantly employed.

Regional and national well-known personalities are regular guests in the programs.
