history

Thyssen Sonnenberg was founded in 1890, making it one of the oldest scrap trading companies in Germany. As a result of the merger of the two companies Thyssen and Klöckner in 1996, their scrap divisions Klöckner Rohstoff Recycling and Thyssen Sonnenberg were also merged to form Thyssen Sonnenberg Recycling . In 1998, 60% of the shares in Thyssen Sonnenberg Recycling (since then trading under the name TSR) were sold to the Dutch company SHV , which two years later also took over the remaining 40%. After seven years, SHV has sold TSR to the three shareholders Remondis (60% shares), Alfa Acciai Spa (20% shares) and Cronimet Holding GmbH (20% shares). In 2014 Remondis took over the 20% stake from Cronimet, which led to the current shareholder structure of 80% Remondis and 20% Alfa Acciai. In 2017 Remondis acquired all of the company's shares.
