society

TSV Helgoland 97 was founded in 1897 on the basis of the Helgoland-Sansibar contract signed in 1890 under the name Berliner TuFC Helgoland . The first home of the club, where cricket was played alongside football , was the Tempelhofer Feld and the Halkerzeile sports complex . In 1926, the BTuFC (Berlin Thor and Football Club) merged with SpVgg Tempelhof in 1906 to form the Tempelhofer Spielvereinigung (TSV) 1897 Helgoland .

On a sporting level, the club played in the championships of the German Football and Cricket Federation until 1901 . After its dissolution, Helgoland 97 entered the championships of the Association of Berlin Ball Game Clubs and the Association of Brandenburg Ball Game Clubs , in which the club was briefly represented in the Berlin Oberliga in the seasons 1901/02 and 1906/07. As early as 1941, Helgoland, which was then always represented in a lower class, withdrew from gaming operations and was dissolved.

An immediate re-establishment and possible participation in the Berlin City League was not carried out in 1945, it was not until 1949 that the club was re-established under its historical name. In the following period, the game association in West Berlin local football only appeared in the lower class, any participation in the Amateur League Berlin or Regionalliga Berlin was no longer achieved. The last division was the Berlin district league .

On July 1, 2016, the club merged with Mariendorfer SV 06 to form TSV Mariendorf 1897.
