Pierre Nguyễn Văn Tốt

Pierre Nguyễn Văn Tốt ( Vietnamese : Phêrô Nguyễn Văn Tốt ; born April 15, 1949 in Thủ Dầu Một ) is a Vietnamese clergyman, Roman Catholic archbishop and diplomat of the Holy See .

Life

He was ordained priest on March 24, 1974 by the Cardinal Prefect of the Congregation for the Evangelization of Peoples , Agnelo Rossi .

Pope John Paul II appointed him titular archbishop pro hac vice of Rusticiana and apostolic nuncio in Benin and Togo on November 25, 2002 . The Pope personally donated his episcopal ordination on January 6 of the next year; Co-consecrators were Leonardo Sandri , substitute for the State Secretariat , and Antonio Maria Vegliò , Secretary of the Congregation for the Eastern Churches .

On August 24, 2005 he was appointed Apostolic Nuncio to Chad and the Central African Republic . Pope Benedict XVI appointed him on May 13, 2008 as Apostolic Nuncio in Costa Rica . On March 22, 2014, Pope Francis appointed him Apostolic Nuncio in Sri Lanka .

On January 2, 2020, Pope Francis accepted his resignation from the office of nuncio in Sri Lanka.
